Education – Northern Province

Palinagar Maha Vidyalayam is our major school in this region with 446 students and 32 teachers. We have been supporting them for a number of years, up to and including the A-Level stage.

Following our visit, we have decided to:

1. Increase the physics teachers’ salaries to -Rs 35,000/month.
2. Support with sports days support.
3. Print scholarship papers and exam papers for monthly and mid-term assessments.

We have been supporting this primary school for a number of years, providing the teachers with a salary of RS 7,000/month.

Following our visit, as per their request, we have decided to:

1. Provide a white board
2. ⁠Overcoats for students and staff
   

We are establishing a free tuition centre in the Cheeratikulam area for 22 students.

The same teacher working Moonrumurippu GTM School has also been appointed to teach here in the early evening and weekends.

Following our visit, we have decided to:

1. Provide exercise books and pencils for students, alongside prizes.
2. ⁠Start Araneri classes.
3. Increase the teacher’s salary to Rs 10,000/ month.
   

This new project for Vinayagapuram Pillaiar Kovil, sets to provide 33 students who are already currently attending with continued Araneri Classes.

This is after their current sponsor stopped supporting them.

Following our visit, we have decided to consider supporting their requests:

1. Rs 1500 per class per teacher (2 teachers )
2. Rs 1000 per class for food

We have started to support this primary school in an isolated and poorly funded area. With 19 students and 2 teachers, we have so far, provided them with 150 exercise books.

Following our visit, we have decided to:

1. Provide breakfast for all the students
2. Buy a photocopier and provide an ink tank.
3. Support extra classes
4. Regularly provide exercise books and pencils.

This is one of our major secondary school projects in this area, educating 113 students up Grade 11.

There are 12 teachers included a newly funded English teacher.

The computer room we sponsored is being used regularly.

Following our visit, we have decided to:

1. Wait for their estimation for their request of building work of 1 classroom.

This primary school is located in a low-income area with a total of 45 students, educated by 3 teachers and 1 principal. There are 16 students in the pre-school cohort

Following our visit, we have decided to:

1. Repair their playground
2. Support 2 hrs of extra classes
3. Provide exam papers & exercise books
4. Conduct regular parent’s meetings to increase the awareness of the importance of education. We be funding this, including food provision.
5. Ensure educational tours for students and parents around the school premises.
